Waste Reduction Education
The CEEE and Science Education offer interdisciplinary waste-related lesson plans, resources and workshops through the Waste Reduction: Addressing the Overlooked ‘R’ program. This program may be used to supplement a school's existing curriculum. Teachers who use it say their students find the materials and activities meaningful and relevant because the issues are real-life and the lessons are hands-on.
The goals of this waste education program are to:
-
Provide current and future educators with accurate and fair content knowledge and resources to help them teach about lifecycle analysis, waste reduction and reuse, hazardous materials, and related environmental issues.
- Provide forums for information exchange.
- Foster relationships between K-12 teachers and local solid waste educators.
